Brand colour accessibility, explained
A brand colour palette checker lets you enter your brand colours and instantly see how readable and accessible they are. It measures the WCAG contrast ratio between each colour and white and black text, flags whether each pairing passes AA or AAA, and gives you an overall accessibility score so you can fix problems before they reach your website or printed material.
For normal body text the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines require a contrast ratio of at least 4.5 to 1 to pass AA, and 7 to 1 to reach the stricter AAA level. Large text, headings of around 24 pixels or 18.66 pixels bold, only needs 3 to 1 for AA. The higher the ratio, the easier your text is to read.
Low contrast colours are hard to read for everyone, and especially for people with low vision or colour blindness. Poor contrast also hurts your conversion rate, fails accessibility audits, and can expose your organisation to compliance issues. Strong, accessible colour pairings keep your brand looking sharp and readable on every screen.
