Microsoft 365 Migration Melbourne

Microsoft 365 migration for Melbourne businesses

In short

Can you migrate our Melbourne business to Microsoft 365?

Yes. We migrate Melbourne businesses to Microsoft 365 remotely, from mailboxes and calendars through to SharePoint and Teams. Melbourne shares our timezone exactly, daylight saving included, so the after-hours cutover window we agree with you is the one you get. We are based in Parramatta and we do not claim a Melbourne office we do not have.
Local context

Migrating to Microsoft 365 in Melbourne

Melbourne is the one interstate city where the clock is never a factor. Victoria and New South Wales run on the same time every day of the year, and they start and end daylight saving on the same dates, so our Parramatta engineers and your Melbourne office are always looking at the same hour.

That is not true of the rest of the country. Brisbane does not observe daylight saving at all, so it drifts an hour away from us for half the year. Perth is two to three hours behind depending on the season. Both need the cutover window converted, double-checked and written down in both timezones. Melbourne needs none of that, which quietly removes the most common cause of a migration starting an hour late.

What Melbourne does bring is complexity of a different kind. It is a city thick with professional services, finance, legal and consulting firms, and those tenants tend to be permission-heavy: shared mailboxes, partner delegate access, calendars that several assistants can write to, and mail rules nobody has looked at since the person who wrote them left. That is the part of a migration that breaks silently. It is also common for a Melbourne head office to have staff in Sydney, Brisbane or Perth, and the moment that is true your cutover is no longer a single-timezone problem, no matter how convenient our own alignment with you happens to be.

Not locked in on Microsoft 365 yet? Our Google Workspace vs Microsoft 365 comparison walks through plans, Copilot against Gemini, and the total cost of ownership before you commit either way.

Zero timezone conversion

Victoria and New South Wales share the same time and the same daylight saving dates. A 7pm Friday cutover means 7pm to both of us, in summer and in winter, with no arithmetic in the middle.

Permission-heavy tenants

Professional services firms run deep on shared mailboxes, delegate access and calendar permissions. We map every one of them before the move, because that is what silently breaks and nobody notices until Monday.

Multi-state teams

If your Melbourne head office has staff in Perth or Brisbane, your real cutover window is set by the last office to stop trading, not by head office. We plan it that way.

Delivery

How we run a Melbourne migration

Remotely, and we would rather be straight with you about that than dress it up. Our only office is in Parramatta. We do not have a Melbourne address, a Melbourne phone number or a Melbourne team, and we are not going to invent any of them to look bigger than we are.

Here is why it matters less than you might expect. Almost all of a Microsoft 365 migration is work you could not watch anyway. Configuring the tenant, assigning licences, mapping mailboxes and permissions, syncing the data, changing DNS and MX records, fixing SPF, DKIM and DMARC so your mail still lands in inboxes afterwards, then verifying every mailbox arrived intact. All of it happens over a connection. An engineer standing in your Collins Street reception does not sync a mailbox faster. What determines whether your Monday morning is calm is the quality of the cutover plan, and that travels perfectly well over the wire.

Presence does genuinely help in two cases, and we will tell you if you are in either. The first is re-enrolling devices for a large team, where getting eighty people signed back in to Outlook, Teams and OneDrive is far less painful as one supervised session than as eighty separate calls. The second is on-prem Exchange hardware that somebody needs to physically look at. If your Melbourne business has either, we will either work alongside your existing local IT provider or build a staged remote plan with scheduled desk-by-desk support, and we will scope it honestly rather than pretending the issue away.

Scope

What we migrate

Mailboxes, with full folder structure and history
Calendars, recurring meetings and room bookings
Contacts and distribution lists
Shared mailboxes, aliases and delegate access
OneDrive and existing file server content
SharePoint sites and Microsoft Teams

We also handle the parts people forget: DNS and MX records, SPF, DKIM and DMARC so your mail keeps landing in inboxes after the move, licence selection, and Outlook profile reconfiguration on every device.

Questions

Melbourne migrations, answered

No, and we will not pretend otherwise. Our only office is in Parramatta, New South Wales. Melbourne migrations are delivered remotely, which is how the overwhelming majority of the work happens anyway. If someone tells you they have a Melbourne presence, it is worth asking whether that is an office with engineers in it or a mailing address on a website.

Yes, and Melbourne is the easiest city in the country for us to schedule. Victoria and New South Wales keep the same time all year, including the same daylight saving start and end dates, so a 7pm Friday cutover means 7pm to both of us in January and in July. There is no conversion step and therefore nothing to get wrong.

It affects it a great deal, and it is the most common complication we see with Melbourne clients. If you have people in Perth or Brisbane, your after-hours window is not the same as theirs. We build the cutover around the last office to finish trading rather than the head office, and we stage the sign-in instructions so each site gets them at the right local time, not at 8am Melbourne time.

For the migration itself, yes. Tenant setup, licensing, DNS and MX changes, mailbox syncing and verification are all done over a connection, and physical proximity changes none of them. Presence genuinely helps in two narrow cases: re-enrolling devices for a large team in one supervised session, and inspecting on-prem Exchange hardware. If your Melbourne business hits either of those, we will say so and plan around it rather than gloss over it.

They open Outlook and sign in to the new account once. Mail, calendar and contacts are already there because the sync ran through the previous week while everyone kept working as normal. We publish a one-page instruction sheet in advance and staff a support window on the Monday, so the questions land with us rather than with whoever in the office is unlucky enough to be good with computers.
