Microsoft 365 migration for Sydney businesses
In short
Can you migrate our Sydney business to Microsoft 365?
Migrating to Microsoft 365 in Sydney
Sydney is our home ground. Our office is at Level 1, 93 George Street, Parramatta, which means we share your timezone, your daylight saving dates and your public holidays, and we can be in your office in under an hour if the job calls for it.
That sounds like a small thing until you have watched a cutover get scheduled badly. When an engineer agrees to start at 6pm Friday and both parties mean the same 6pm, nobody is doing timezone arithmetic at the exact moment your mail flow is in transit. For our interstate clients we plan carefully around that gap. For Sydney clients the gap does not exist.
Sydney also throws up two very different kinds of migration, and they are not really the same job. Around the CBD, North Sydney and Macquarie Park we mostly meet professional services, finance, legal and insurance firms with a cloud-first setup and a lot of shared mailboxes, delegate access and calendar permissions that have to survive the move intact. Head west through Parramatta, Norwest, Blacktown and out towards Penrith and we meet far more trades, logistics, construction and light industrial businesses, and a lot more on-prem Exchange servers still humming away in a comms cupboard. Those two migrations need different plans, and the second one is where being twenty minutes up the M4 actually earns its keep.
If you have not settled on Microsoft 365 yet, read our Google Workspace vs Microsoft 365 comparison first. Choosing the wrong platform is far more expensive to unwind than choosing slowly.
Same timezone, no translation
We work AEST and AEDT alongside you. The cutover window we agree in your calendar is the cutover window we start in ours, which removes an entire category of scheduling error before it can happen.
Permission-heavy tenants
Sydney professional services firms tend to run deep on shared mailboxes, delegate access and calendar permissions. We map those before we move anything, because that is what usually breaks and nobody notices until Monday.
On-prem Exchange out west
Plenty of Western Sydney businesses are still on an in-house Exchange server. We can look at the actual hardware, confirm the version and decide between a cutover and a staged hybrid move, rather than guessing remotely.
How we run a Sydney migration
Here is the honest version. An email migration is mostly a remote job. Tenant configuration, licence assignment, DNS and MX changes, mailbox syncing and verification all happen over a connection, and they happen the same way whether the engineer is in your boardroom or in Parramatta. Anyone who tells you physical presence is the deciding factor is selling you a van, not a migration. What decides whether your Monday morning is calm is the cutover plan.
That said, there are two situations where being on site genuinely earns its place, and in Sydney we can offer it. The first is device re-enrolment for a larger team, when thirty or eighty people all need Outlook, Teams and OneDrive signed in and re-profiled and you would rather that happened in one supervised morning than in eighty separate support calls. The second is on-prem Exchange hardware, where seeing the server, its version and its condition beats any amount of remote guesswork.
So we offer both, and we tell you which one you actually need. If your team is small and cloud-based, we will say so and run it remotely, and you keep the money. If you have an ageing server and a floor full of desks, we will come to you.
What we migrate
We also handle the parts people forget: DNS and MX records, SPF, DKIM and DMARC so your mail keeps landing in inboxes after the move, licence selection, and Outlook profile reconfiguration on every device.
Sydney migrations, answered
Yes. Our office is at Level 1, 93 George Street, Parramatta, so Sydney is the one city where we can put an engineer in your office on cutover night. We cover Parramatta, the CBD, North Sydney, the North Shore, Macquarie Park, Norwest and Western Sydney out to Penrith. Onsite is optional, not compulsory, and we will tell you honestly whether your migration actually needs it.
We run the final cutover outside your trading hours, usually from Friday evening, and we are in your timezone so there is no scheduling translation to get wrong. Mailbox syncing happens quietly in the background for days beforehand while everyone keeps working in the old system. The only visible change for staff is signing in to Outlook again on Monday morning.
Yes, and this is the case where being local genuinely helps. We can inspect the server, confirm its version and patch level, and plan either a cutover migration or a hybrid staged move depending on how many mailboxes you have and how much history is on the box. If the hardware is old enough to be a risk, we would rather see it in person than guess from a remote session.
For a small Sydney team on Google Workspace or an IMAP host, the sync typically runs over a few days and the cutover itself is a single evening. Larger tenants, on-prem Exchange and heavy SharePoint or file server content take longer because the data volume drives the timeline, not the admin work. We give you a dated plan before we touch anything, so you know which evening the switch happens.
No. We sync your mailboxes to the new tenant before the switch, then run a delta sync after the MX records change so anything that arrived mid-cutover is picked up. Your old mailboxes stay intact and untouched until you have signed off that everything landed, which means there is always a way back.
