Website speed, explained
It runs a full Lighthouse analysis of your page and reports the performance score, Core Web Vitals (Largest Contentful Paint, Cumulative Layout Shift, Total Blocking Time and more), total page size, the number of requests, a breakdown of that weight by content type such as images, scripts and fonts, the top opportunities to speed the page up, and real-user Core Web Vitals from Chrome when Google has enough data. You also get Accessibility, Best Practices and SEO scores in the same run.
Yes. The website speed test is free to use with no sign-up. Enter any public web address, choose mobile or desktop, and you get a full report in under a minute. If you want our team to act on the findings and make your site faster, you can book a free audit at any time.
The tool loads your page in a real, throttled browser environment and measures how it actually renders, which is far more accurate than a simple ping. That deeper analysis is powered by Google PageSpeed Insights and Lighthouse, the same engine behind Google Search Console, so a single test usually takes fifteen to forty seconds.
Test both, but treat mobile as the priority. Google uses mobile-first indexing and most Australian traffic is on phones, so the mobile score, which simulates a mid-range device on a slower connection, is the one that most affects your rankings and your visitors. Use the desktop view to check the experience for office and laptop users.
A performance score of 90 or above is fast, 50 to 89 is average and worth improving, and below 50 is slow. For Core Web Vitals, aim for Largest Contentful Paint under 2.5 seconds, Cumulative Layout Shift under 0.1, and Interaction to Next Paint under 200 milliseconds. Hitting these thresholds helps both your rankings and your conversion rate.
